Tsuguto Yoshida

吉田亞人

Furniture designer and head of KAJART

Tsuguto Yoshida learned furniture making under Akio Okumura. Today he leads the KAJART workshop in Mitake, Kiso, Nagano, where he makes both the furniture he designs himself and the furniture designed by Okumura.

Beginning with the Chigiri Chair of 1993, his designs — chairs, stools and tables — favour lightness and practicality. He works in timbers such as mizunara oak and Japanese chestnut, with restrained finishes like matte clear lacquer that let the grain speak.

Yoshida holds the rights and continuity needed to produce, document and present the workshop’s designs and archive; design, making and record-keeping all happen within the same workshop.
